Australian dies while surfing at Kuta

An Australian citizen, identified as Peter John Surman (56), has died
in a surfing accident at Kuta Reef, a well known surf break around 1.5
km off Kuta Beach.
Denpasar water police chief, I Wayan Redip, said the victim was surfing at Kuta Reef on Friday when he suddenly passed out.
“The beach lifeguard brought the victim by jetski to the beach. He was taken to BIMC Hospital but was pronounced dead two hours later,” Redip said.
Redip suspected that the victim, who was on holiday with wife Louise Amanda Surman, suffered some form of health problem leading to him passing out.
Coordinator of Badung lifeguard, Ketut Ipel, said his team learned of the incident when a fisherman phoned them to report he had found a body floating near the surf break.
